Two weeks prior, while speaking at the Supreme Court, Maraga decried the government's decision to slash the Judiciary's budget.
He claimed at the time, that he was struggling to foot bills, including that of wifi.
"Unless I am treated with the respect I deserve, I will choose state functions to attend.
"The CJ is not accorded the respect accorded to his office. CSs and PSs are cleared to enter in places before the chief justice," he lamented at the time.
He also specifically highlighted the Sunday, October 20 Mashujaa Day event that was held in Mombasa, where he decried of mistreatment .
"I’m always treated contemptuously like it happened during Mashujaa Day where my presence was not even acknowledged. I was allowed on to the stage through a side door.
"I have never owned a Mercedes myself and I am not bothered by that. However, let the office of the CJ be treated like every other office including President Uhuru Kenyatta 's office," he demanded.
