Via Kenyan Bulletin There has been immense pressure demanding the prosecution of DP Ruto-Linked Narok Governor Samuel Tunai over myriad scandals that have marked his legacy.
Apart from engaging in corruption and illegalities, governor Tunai has been accused of engaging in nepotism and employing unqualified chaps that he can manipulate just like the case with James Wamugo, the alleged Narok County legal advisor.
A well-known fraudster, James Wamugo was one of the 31 employees that were summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over corruption scandals at the county.
When the summons orders reached the county, Samuel Tunai said he was opposed to a decision by the EACC to summon the 31 employees.
The county asked the court to intervene and issue temporary orders, stopping the EACC from summoning and questioning its employees. Also sought was an order stopping the agency from publicising or issuing press conferences on the matter under investigations.
Governor Samuel Tunai, the county government, county secretary, Finance executive and Finance chief officer were listed as petitioners revealing the extent the governor would go to protect the people he uses to loot the county coffers.
In suit papers, the county said the matter was extremely urgent because if the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission was allowed to summon its staff, operations in the devolved unit would be disrupted.
The procurement matter the agency was looking into was under probe by the Director of Criminal Investigations office, the court was told.
And based on that, the Narok government asked for the postponement of the questioning of staff, which was to start on 4th March 2019.
According to suit papers, the county got an initial letter from the DCI on December 10 2018, requiring it to provide original files for procurement and payments of all tenders from 2013 to 2018.
The EACC summoned two employees — James Wamugo and Caroline Okul — and questioned them for a full day, the county reported.
