[ad_1] The arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has lifted the lid on questionable dealings and a clique of shady businessmen minting millions from dealings that are the subject of investigations with EACC investigations establishing that companies associated with the individuals deposited millions into Sonko’s accounts. While the governor prides himself in his publicized attempts “to rid the city of corruption cartels”, EACC accuse the governor of assembling a cartel to fleece city residents. The cartel refered to by EACC is taking over the city in questionable dealings and operating in a similar scheme as the same cartels that Sonko is fighting. It has also emerged that Sonko’s friends work as his advisers and partners, doing business with the county government. It is no surprise that a number of individuals listed to be charged alongside the governor over the Sh537 million corruption scandal are his long-time associates who double up as his partners and friends. Ombok listed as the Director of companies several companies, including ROG Security Limited, Arab Auto Limited, High Energy Limited and High Energy Petroleum Limited. Ombok who is the chairman of ROG sacco matatus that ply Eastlands routes share interests with the governor, including the transport business that is riddled with cartels. Also on the list is Anthony Mwaura Ng’ang’a, a wealthy but controversial businessman who is not new to scandals. New center of power He was a person of interest in 2017, when EACC detectives filed a case in court over the unexplained wealth of Mr Stanley Mombo Amuti, a former financial controller at the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation in an elaborate scheme that is similar to the current one.
