William Ruto is a man never too far from the headlines. From being heavily questioned over his source of wealth and his very generous donations to churches, to his style of politics. Kenyans simply can't let him catch a break.

This weekend while speaking in Nandi County the deputy president made remarks that haven't been received very well by Kenyans. While talking about the new taxation rates in the country, Mr Ruto told butchers in the area to stop overcharging Kenyans for meat, adding that “cows don't drink petrol”. Implying that the new cost of fuel shouldn't impact the cost of meat and other common commodities in any way.

For a man who has specialized in Botany and Zoology and even honoured with PhD from the University of Nairobi after graduating this month, you'd expect that he at least understands the basics of taxation and its impacts.

This isn't the first time he has made a fool out of himself. A few years back he made very interesting comments during the heated national debate over the Mau Forest conservation. Mr Ruto was quoted saying that rain comes from heaven and not from the trees hence there was no need to stop people from cutting them down and moving into the forest.

Kenyans on social media were quick to throw in their two cents over Ruto's embarrassing remarks and schooled him on matters tax.
