Kenyans online are complaining about the manner in which Jubilee and Old Mutual Insurance companies have handled their claims.
It all started when a Twitter user Maritim Kiprono narrated how Old Mutual medical cover is a scam 'which takes premiums but are not there to pay hospital bills'.

This ropped in another user Artaxerxes Odero who narrated how his father in law in in the hospital and despite being a payer of premium insurance cover, the firm, Old Mutual is only giving them Ksh300k instead of Ksh5 million. The bill stands at Ksh10 million.

With slightly over 6 per cent penetration rate in insurance in Kenya, insurance firms are not supposed to be swindling Kenyans.
Many Kenyans have shied away from taking insurance because of such behaviors whereby a medical or life claim are not paid as agreed. People who insure cars insure because the law forces them to, but many have had very sad encounters after they were involved in an accident.

With these kind of behavior, it is no wonder insurance is frowned at in Kenya.
