This is a classic case of Kenya. A project is good but the money allocated is what is always not correct.
Directors will often allocate some share of money in projects so that they can collect it later as kick-backs.
Sometimes they collect even what was intended for the projects and that is why we have pictures shared on social media, showing stupid ‘construction projects’ all over.
This is why: see, a tender is floated of let’s say Kshs. 4 million, you apply and win the tender then you are called to sign the contract. At the contract signing meeting, you are told that the Governor, in order to release the funds, wants Kshs. 2 million. Then the Chief officer and the CEC also want something, usually Kshs. 1.5 million. Later you find there are other vultures, which leaves you with Kshs. 1 million to do a Kshs, 4 million job.
How can that job ever be done to standards? Hey Cyprian, There is a lot of rot in Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) spearheaded by the Director General EngPeter M. Mundinia and Eng. Philemon Kandie.
Instead of supporting the road projects in the country they are busy demanding for money from the projects.
An example is the construction of Iten-Nyaru road, which is almost complete. The two engineers have frustrated the resident engineer of the project to the extent of terminating his contract just because the guy is firm and refused to sign for them the project money.
They have instead instructed him to hand over the project to the regional supervisor who will do as they want.
Rumours have it that the Director General will be running for a gubernatorial position in 2022 and he's therefore looking for campaign money.
He wants to siphon taxpayers money for his selfish gains.
Kindly let this information reach the CS Transport James Macharia, Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
These rogue leaders should be removed and let our institutions operate free of corruption. The project is in the same county of Elgeyo Marakwet where the money for Kimwarer and Arror dams have been squandered.
