Victor Shiraku in happier times
On 19th August, 2017, a young boy, Victor Shiraku, full of life plays by the road side with his friend.
Carefree like many kids, oblivious of the dangers, they decided to cross to the other side of the road to get home since it was getting late.
The time was about 6 p.m. In the evening. They have done this before and there was nothing to worry about.
Then suddenly breaks screeching and shouting; the boy lies down writhing in pain.
A overspeeding minibus, KBN 763F, belonging to Ebenezer M. Sacco, plying the Kisumu - Luanda route had knocked the boy and injured him badly. Some bystanders quickly rushed to the scene to attend to him; they put the injured boy in a vehicle that took him to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.
According to the medical report seen by the editor of this site; because of the impact, the boy lost consciousness, was bleeding from the left ear, and convulsing.
CT scan of the head showed tempoparietal bone displaced fracture. Transverse frontal bone fractures; Base of skull fracture. Left temporal subdural bleed and pneumocephalous.
The child couldn't talk or urinate properly for a long time.
This was severe injury.
The bus which was traveling from Luanda to Maseno was arrested by the police and driven back to Luanda police station where a charge sheet of the incident was recorded.
Through the crooked hand of corruption, the bus was released a week later to continue operating. Obviously the police were paid something.
The boy spent 3 weeks in Aga Khan Hospital, the medical bill accruing to Kshs. 615,000.
The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) paid Kshs. 48,000, and after an agreement with the hospital's lawyer, the boy was released with the father required to pay Kshs. 6000 per month to Aga Khan till he clears the bill.
This amount is hard for the family to pay because of the meagre income that the father gets.
The problem is that the case is dragging in court and it feels like it is going nowhere.
A lawyer agreed to work pro Bono. But you know how hard this can be.
However, justice delayed is justice denied.
Attention Hillary Mutyambai, please investigate your officers at Luanda police station, how much were the wankers paid to sabotage this case.
Attention David Maraga, the judiciary is still corrupt. Gotta do something.
I hope Aga Khan Hospital had a Corporate Social Responsibility where they could waiver such fees?
This is a poor family!
Police should not cover up. Let this case be sped up so that Shiraku can get justice.
This accident occurred at Ipali area along Luanda - Kisumu road and was handled by the Highway Traffic Unit; an investigative officer by the name Risper Onyango was on this case.
The vehicle is owned by Noah Oteko Sumba and was being driven at that time by Philip Munalo Wabuko.
