Faith Ororia, Helen Wanjiku and a Master Con artist known as Shuhel, all fired employees from Centum Learning Ltd, an international training company have teamed up to swindle the public. This is after the employees were fired due to theft and gross misconduct at the Centum Learning Ltd.
Led by their con master Mr. Shuhel, they decided to take revenge on the company through a vicious war. The three hastily registered a company known as Skills Drill whose online presence is seen as of 18/1/2018 under who.is domain name skillsdrill.com.
They decided to cook company registration materials just to inappropriately acquire a training tender to a USAID sponsored Youth program known as Generation Kenya.
The program was initially to be delivered by Centum Learning since its inception in Kenya in 2015. Skills Drill begged the clients who are Generation Kenya to take away the contract from Centum Learning with the promise to do a good job training the youth and offering employment to them in the sales industry. They also offered to do it at the least price just to have the project given to them.
After handouts were given to some people behind the curtain, Skills Drill was given the contract to recruit , train and place youths in jobs. All this time Mr Shuhel and his team of goons were calculating how to cut cost and pocket over Ksh. 12 Million meant for the project. The funds were a joint from employer partners and donor grants.
They went ahead and recruited the former employees of Centum Learning, who at the time were set to loose jobs due to not having a project to run. The number of employees were over 112 who included, center coordinators and trainers. During the engagement, the employees were promised the same pay as before and other allowances there of. Since the company Skills Drill was not operational, Mr. Shuhel and team decided to have a word of mouth to employees as they work on mending the contracts.
Contracts were never given out for the next 6 months. However, that being overlooked, the monthly compensation was reduced by 30% and anyone who needed to be paid the total 100% must make sure that the employed youths don't quit their jobs. This looks illogical since no one can keep a demotivated employee at work. Salaries were delayed for the month and each time anyone requested, there was an email from Faith@skillsdrill.comand and wanjiru@skillsdrill.com threatening people to quit instead of asking for their pay.
Due to their over promise to Generation Kenya, Skills Drill began under delivering while pressuring employees with threats to deliver and work for unpaid overtime. Most of the team were fired anytime you asked Faith Ororia or Helen Wanjiku a question.
After 6 months of depression, Skills Drill decided to give a contract that was already executed with banana terms. They had lost reputation in delivery to a point where they made Generation Kenya loose a major partnership with the biggest insurance company in Kenya.
The remaining team of now 110 were requested to continue working as their contracts were extended to the next year. Everyone was to report on duty each day and do report, recruitment with follow up. At the end of the month which is July 30th 2018 the goons went undercover. All phones were off and communication stopped. They resurfaced and promised to pay the employees if they surrender company computers and tablets. After everyone had submitted, they vanished without a trace.
As I write this sad narration, no one has been paid their dues. Each time the employees try a lawsuit, they are requested of a written contract which no one has. However attached here are messages from their authentic communication channel which was WhatsApp.

And can you all stop reporting fake cases here. “Hi Team. July salaries will be processed as usual as we await communication on next cohort start date. In the mean time identify 7-10 active mobilisers per centre that we can work with to bring in quality students, also identify Organisations that can either provide youth or help mobilise through their networks. Do share any other ideas you may have. Good afternoon.” [5:50 PM, 7/31/2018] Helen Wanjiru: Good afternoon team. Generation has come back to us regarding the next Cohort status. The following message was sent to our Director from Generation..."unfortunately at the moment we will not be starting STS classes as we are reviewing performance of the whole program and getting necessary changes implemented from us/our screening and Sanlam coding/manager buy-in. As such, we will not be renewing the contract with yourselves until we have completed the whole review process and are sure of start dates which might take a few months." [5:51 PM, 7/31/2018] Helen Wanjiru: Therefore we have to collect the laptops and tablets as they are Generations assets. Salaries will get delayed as we await pending clearance from Generation. Sources tell us that Skills Drill is now working to deliver a Google Digital Skills training with a messed up team who don't get paid, or facilitated to offer training. During a recruitment exercise for the same, Mr Shuhel assembled all these job seekers and took photos of them with Google projectors on just to lie to Google that that was a digital literacy class. He has attempted to get more projects with Generation Kenya, but after his former performance they are still auditing this one man firm whose office is at Mr Shuhel's home in Westlands.
Currently, plans are underway by the employees along side city lawyers to call for a mass action against Skills Drill if they do not honour to pay their employees July salaries as of the end of October.
