Speaking to members of the press on Saturday, February 12 at the Diamond Plaza in Nairobi, renowned Professor George Wajackoyah officially declared his intention to be the next Kenyan president.
When announcing his candidature, the former street boy who found his fortunes in the United States gave a first-time glimpse into his ambitious 8-point manifesto and left many netizens impressed.
Below are some of his ideas that captured nationwide attention. 1. Introduction of 8 Prime Ministers If elected President, Wajackoyah has promised to introduce eight prime ministers to be in charge of the defunct eight provinces.
This move would be accompanied by clearing all the county commissioners from their jobs and then replacing them with the said prime ministers. 2. Change of official working days in Kenya Once he ascends to power, Wajackoyah has disclosed his intention to reduce the official workdays in Kenya.
According to the Professor, working days should be between Monday and Thursday.
Friday being a Muslim prayer day, would not be counted as a workday, and Saturday and Sunday would also form part of non-working days. 3. Legalization of the trade and consumption of Bhang Wajackoyah further noted that under his government, bhang farming and sale will be legalized in Kenya.
The proceeds from the bhang sale will then be used to help offset the Chinese loans, after which the bold aspirant will then completely sever ties with the Asian nation. 4. Death penalty to the corrupt Additionally, Wajackoyah says his administration will introduce a serious death penalty for anyone found guilty of corruption. 5. Hand Ministry of Trade to a nominee of Asian descent Without declaring specific reasons, the lawyer has also pledged to hand over the Trade Ministry to a person of Asian descent. 6. Self-appointment as Immigration Minister The presidential hopeful further says that in his administration he will personally serve as the Immigration Minister. 7. Ownership of media houses Under his manifesto, Wajackoya noted that during his tenure, media houses will only be owned by journalists and not other proprietors. 8. Suspension of the constitution Finally, in a rather shocking declaration, Wajackoyah revealed that in his first six months in power, he will suspend the Constitution to allow Kenyans to decide on the kind of Constitution that they want.
