Residents of Matungu Sub County in Mumias are living in fear after the 42 brothers gang killed three people. The daring killings come after a security and peacebuilding meeting organised by the area police. The leaders of the gang are known as Otini and Abu. Residents associate the gang with sacked Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rashid Echesa. Nine months ago, Echesa was on the spot after the current Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala convoy was attacked and shot at in Matungu. Eshesa and Malala had had a bitter disagreement a few hours earlier. The attackers, mostly from the 42 Brothers gang, were chanting pro-Echesa slogans.
