Former Transport PS and current Murang'a Gubernatorial aspirant Irungu Nyakera Hi Nyakundi,
I am bringing to light the details of how PS Irungu Nyakera conned innocent Kenyans millions of shillings. Samara Affordable Housing Project in Kiambu was launched by PS Hinga sometime in 2020.
That is in the public domain because it was well covered in Kenyan mainstream media. It was quite well advertised. The State Department for Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga flanked by senior government officials, Tushia Global Holdings Chairman Bishop Mark Kariuki and reputable local private developers on Friday 3rd July 2020 launched a premier luxurious-low cost housing Samara Estate project in Kiambu County Two and three-bedroom apartments at Sh2.95m and Sh3.95m respectively.
Safaricom Investment Cooperative (SIC) as a sales agent recommended the product to us because we are their members.
As per the sale agreement signed between the buyers (us) and the vendor Sycamore Pine Limited - whose director is Irungu Nyakera, we were to deposit 40% of the cost of the apartment and the rest was to be paid in 24 equal monthly instalments starting from when the construction commences.
Money was deposited to Sycamore Pine Limited account but through MMC ASAFO owned by Wakili Muriu. CAPTION: Wakili Edward Muriu who runs MMC ASAFO with offices in Johannesburg, Abidjan, Casablanca, Paris and London The project was supposed to start by early 2021 and apartments ready by 2023.
However, this didn't happen.
The project never took off.
SIC sensing a breach of the agreement by the developer (Sycamore Pine Limited Owned by Irungu Nyakera) advised us to withdraw from the project and ask for a refund which we did.
We wrote to MMC, withdrew from the project and asked for a refund of our cash.
MMC didn't have an objection but needed approval from the director of Sycamore Pine Ltd who is Irungu Nyakera.
MMC complained that the developer had ceased to communicate with them.
So MMC always told us they were waiting for the developer to advise accordingly.
We took it to ourselves to engage Irungu Nyakera by highlighting the issue on Twitter and by Direct Messages sent to him.
Nyakera reached out to me sometime in September 2021 and started his lies and assurances with fake promises that he will refund.
At one point he even asked to be given just a month, after which he would sit with MMC ASAFO lawyers and find a way of releasing the money. But after February 2022, Nyakera disappeared and would not speak to us again.
All we are asking him is to refund the investors' money deposited with him since he failed in his obligation to deliver the apartment.
Why hold investors' money one year down the line?
Integrity precedes leadership.
He is going on with his campaigns like everything is okay when some families somewhere are in pain and under stress because he is holding their money.
It's so painful and stressful for families who worked so hard during the pandemic period to save little of what they had with the hope of securing a home for their children.
Like Gakuyo Nyakera is going on with his life.
We too want to go on with ours.
All we are asking is that he refunds what is rightly ours.
He conned people over 20M which he’s using for his campaign.
I have posted this because I feel I am in a position to help them by making people know the truth.
