Our president, you are the only person who we can trust to help the Kenyan teacher.
I am a Kenyan teacher and all teachers in Kenya have not been receiving their medical allowances since 2015. The excuse has been that we will be provided with a medical cover.
So AON medical insurance was supposed to give us the medical cover; it was a good idea for Kenyan teachers to have a medical cover and many hospitals embraced the idea and surprisingly 3 months down the line, many hospitals started declining the AON medical cover for teachers saying that the government wasn't remitting funds to the hospitals.
As we speak, almost all hospitals have withdrawn their services apart from one corridor hospital called Bliss; a hospital whose doctors are all quacks.
Teachers in Kenya are suffering, Nyakundi kindly expose this issue because even our union leaders are also compromised. Teachers have very many unanswered questions.
- Why have two medical schemes (AON and NHIF) ?
- Why is the money deducted for AON never indicated on our payslips like any other deduction? (Our medical allowances used to be more than Ksh. 3,000 per month i.e more than Ksh. 36,000 per annum) per teacher.
- Why are our unions not addressing this issue despite teachers' outcry? Are they compromised?
- Who owns these Bliss medical centers?
Kindly Mr. President, a Kenyan teacher contributes a minimum of Ksh. 36,000 per annum in medical cover and am sure you have come across teachers fundraising for medical bills whereas, with the money we contribute, we can get the best services in the land.
This money should reflect on our payslips so that there can be transparency. You can imagine a teacher who was employed from 2016 onwards don't even know how much he/she is supposed to get as medical allowance because it doesn't reflect anywhere.
