Outgoing: Mr. Fernandes Barasa, Ketraco MD and CEO
Ketraco under Fernandes Barasa was a deep hole of sins and senseless looting and now that he wants to hide in Politics, the acting Managing Director Antony Wamukota is even worse.
The voice clip shared here is of the Acting MD, Antony Wamukota, instructing KETRACO pilot, a Major Chirchir not to allow the general manager, transmission lines, Dr Joseph Siror to board the company chopper at Wilson airport.
This was on Sunday 23rd January 2022 after there was an electricity breakdown at Garissa.
'Don't take any direction from one Joseph Siror...and the passengers you are going to carry, if Siror is one of them, don't, I might send police there to arrest you', Anthony Wamukota is heard saying.
In this voice clip, the pilot is being given clear instructions not to allow Dr Siror on the chopper and if he dares board the plane. The plane should not leave and that he (pilot) should inform him so as to make an arrest on Dr Siror.
“Why would one not allow one in charge of restoring electricity not to attend his duties?”, a source asks.
This is clear sabotage of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive. AUDIO Antony Wamukota is the current GM design and construction in charge of constructing the transmission lines. He has been only in that position for less than 6 months.
One of the key factors for one to occupy such office is to have a master's degree, Wamukota does not have that. The rogue chairman, Joe Mutambu who joined KETRACO in AprilL 2021 ensured he put Wakukota in this position. This was after Wamukota bought 3 land cruiser VX, V8 as a gift for himself, also gifting MD Fernandes Barasa and the rogue chairman Joe Mutambu. This is what is in the public domain.
On the other hand, DR Siror is an engineer, with a masters and PhD in electrical engineering, he is the man in charge of the Maintenance of all high voltage power lines in the country. The olkaria-Lessos-Kisumu power line was commissioned in June last year, there was embezzlement of billions of funds. Antony Wamukota was fingered for the looting.
Some questions that need answers: How can you explain erecting 10 temporary towers on a new power line instead of constructing real towers? How can you explain using budget meant to maintain the existing transmission lines on a line that is being built (olkaria-Lessos-Kisumu) How do you explain using over 500 million in replacing broken discs on a line running from Kenya -Ethiopia , the line has not yet being commissioned since construction works are ongoing. These are the few cases of massive embezzlement of funds by Wamukota.
Fernandes Barasa is resigning from his position in February to run for the seat of the governor Kakamega County.
Wamukota has been appointed acting MD though Barasa is on his terminal leave. This is where the trouble started.
According to insiders, Wamukota has seen Dr Siror as a big competitor for the MD position, he is doing all efforts to frustrate Siror.
It all started from Siror being a compulsory leave which he refuted since the Ag MD can't order him to such unless the board agrees. From the clip where Siror powers are being stripped, the repercussions are that for the last one week, no maintenance works have gone on on the power lines. The current acting MD is not approving the usage of budget, this is to frustrate Dr Siror and label him a failure so that he can have his way as the MD.
