The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) board is made up of corrupt individuals who have no love for poor kenyans.
The board led by a seasoned crook Ms Hannah Muriithi cannot be trusted to carry out and deliver on the Big Four Agenda on Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Even though the Big 4 Agenda is just a faux given the record of the two despotic duo Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, in a million years the NHIF bard as currently constituted cannot offer much t the agenda.
The NHIF Board knows one language: LOOTING.
Recently, before a parliamentary Public Investments Committee, NHIF acting CEO Nicodemus Odongo revealed that over 70,000 people have lost money by sending their contribution using wrong details to NHIF.
The problem is that NHIF doesn't see this as a problem and the over Ksh35 million shillings paid this way, the look at it as peanuts.
Of course NHIF collects Ksh2.8 to Ksh3.2 billion in contribution from its members a month. But the disadvantaged Kenyan who send over 35 million to a wrong paybill number must also be catered for.
Question is: Shouldn't there be enough sensitization on the part of the NHIF so that this doesn't happen?
Even an MP wondered, why NHIF doesn't care about the lives of Kenyans who sent the NHIF premiums to the wrong Paybill numbers. This is the height of cannibalistic behaviors.
“Sh35 million in one single year is not a small amount and NHIF is putting the lives of poor Kenyans in jeopardy as they cannot access health services using their cards due to mistakes made by the company,” said Wajir East MP Rashid Amin.
NHIF couldn't come clear on where the Ksh35 million went. House of Scams (scam after scam) Recently, the national health insurer was at the centre of another scam after questionable hiring through single-sourcing of an integrated revenue management system at a cost of Sh1.4 billion.
Members of National Assembly (MPs) heard that top officials at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) spent Ksh1.4 billion of taxpayers’ money to lease the system from Web Tribe Ltd in 2014.
An audit report that the National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee is examining found that had NHIF opted to buy the system, it could have cost only Sh495 million.
The scam was executed during Simon ole Kirgotty’s tenure.
The culture of looting at NHIF is legendary and if the board is not changed, any new CEO will be bought by the cartels and the looting will continue.
The board has watched, without doing anything as graft take over the fund. NHIF, Has been a cash-cow for a few individuals and the bosses at the helm have made it their habit to dance on poor Kenyans graves, as corruption becomes cancer in this country. The NHIF could have lost more than Ksh10 billion in false medical claims, investigations have said.
The North Eastern counties are not focused on very much, and there's serious looting in that place.
According to our sources, top NHIF bosses and board members have formed shell companies that they are using to award themselves tenders and loot it to the ground.
This is why President Uhuru Kenyatta, if he is serious with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda in his Big 4 agenda, he must disband the board of NHIF.
