Business magnate Elon Musk Twitter's new owner Elon Musk has slammed former US President Donald Trump's recently launched "Truth Social" app.
Making fun of the social media platform on Wednesday, April 27, the Tesla CEO suggested that Truth Social was a "terrible name" while hinting at a new name for the social platform. "Truth Social (terrible name) exists because Twitter censored free speech," he wrote.
Minutes later he added another tweet saying, "should be called Trumpet instead!" Truth Social's ratings saw a sudden surge in interest on Tuesday after the app resolved some of its technical problems amid significant shifts in the social media industry.
On Friday, April 22, Truth Social CEO Devin Nuneswaitlist confirmed that the app was cleared after it moved to Rumble's cloud service, a development that could lead to increased accessibility by users.
The app is currently outpacing Twitter and TikTok on the Apple Store. The controversy surrounding Musk and the world of social media goes back a long way.
