The Government yesterday explained the reasons why some enumerators in the census 2019 exercise haven’t been paid.
The GoK said that 153, 316 census personnel have so far been paid whereas 9,991 are yet to be paid due to technical reasons such as erroneous bank account details, dormant accounts, inspection of the conditions of mobile devices issued them.
However, as we stated in the past and now it is being repeated by the enumerators, how can the government expect electronic gadgets not to wear and tear with use?

Imagine this, well don’t imagine, it’s the reality!
Even after the census results have been released, some enumerators have not been paid their wages. I have cases in Machakos County where enumerators only received the first payment. The amount was approximately ksh.2,000.(Laughable).
When other enumerators were paid fully their second installments, these few enumerators were not paid.
After inquiries with the County statistics officer, it was revealed to them that their electronic gadgets were scratched and that deductions were to be made on their hard earned cash approximately Ksh20,000. Another angle Dear Nyakundi,
First of all, I can’t fathom how these monkeys expect one to use an electronic gadget without wear and tear.
Note that the screens were scratched and not cracked.
Anyway the heartbreaking thing is that these poor enumerators have not received their peanuts yet.
I really pity Kenyans.
Heartbreaks after heartbreaks, initially all enumerators had been lied to that the amount to be earned was approx. Ksh40,000, it was reduced to half (20,000) and I think these poor enumerators who scratched screens might end up getting Ksh10,000 if they will ever get paid.

We must not wallow in blame shifting and laziness. A country must be governed better and that requires the incessant input of the citizenry.
It is important to note that it is better to live on one feet and not die on ones knees, begging for crumbs from the Mois, Kenyattas and the likes.
