Deputy President Dr. William Ruto on Friday held a prayer meeting with religious leaders from Uasin Gishu County at his home in Sugoi.
Government banned social gatherings and shut places of worship were closed in March after the covid-19 break out.
The DP later took later 'tweeted' quating a verse from the Bible, "Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer. ~ Hebrews 10:25."
Government officials and selected religious leaders (Inter Faith Council) are working out modalities of reopening of places of worship andf developing protocols to curb further spread of the virus.
The 16 member team is led by Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria was gazetted to develop stringent protocols for the reopening of places of worship which will be done in faces.
The council is expected to release guidelines on reopening of places of worship next week.
Archbishop Muheria said the the council was mandated to develope guidelines for safe phased re-opening of places of worship, developing guidelines on the celebration of weddings, funerals and religious ceremonies among others.
A recent poll by Infotrak shows that at least 59% of Kenyans want worship places reopened with 77% of residents at coastal region seeking the reopening.
Western is also keen on the resumption of religious gatherings at 64% and Nairobi at 61%.
