CAPTION: Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and the piece of land he is accused of grabbing along the Southern Bypass Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i this morning had his phone buzzing with notifications from Twitter after a post accusing the so-called "Super Minister" of attempting to illegally acquire a government piece of land went viral on social media.
In the tweet published by overrated Muzungu Activist Boniface Mwangi, CS Matiang'i is said to be the face behind the recent grabbing of Kenya Wildlife Service land along the Southern Bypass Highway. "On the Southern bypass is government land owned by KWS. Someone in government is grabbing it. Kwa ground watu wanasema ni church elder Fred Matiangi," he wrote on his Twitter page. From the images shared by Mwangi, a convoy of construction trucks and a small group of workers can on the portion of land; a clear sign that the grabber intends to immediately begin to develop the tract. But according to Mwangi, a plan is already underway to ensure that the grabbing won't happen.
In the final part of his post, he revealed that he has been in contact with Lang'ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir in whose constituency the piece of land is located and the two agreed to raze down the trucks and everything else on site. "I have spoken to Langata MP Nixon Korir and we shall stop the grabbing. Sh 1,000 petrol, a matchbox and the trucks will be on Fire," he added. If true, the latest development would be another considerable blow to Matiang’i who is believed to have set his sights on a big role in the 2022 succession race.
This would be in addition to his other impending land scandal where Matiang’i was in 2018 accused of the irregular acquisition of what came to be known as the Ruaraka Primary School land when he was Education CS.
In November 2018, a report was presented before the Senate recommending investigations and prosecution of Matiang’i, Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang and top National Land Commission (NLC) officials over the controversial Ksh.1.5 billion land saga.
