Police have arrested Walter Kipkoech, the 23-year-old suspect wanted over the killing of 18-year-old Joy Wangui in Kiambaa area, Molo, Nakuru County.
Kipkoech was arrested at a hideout in Lagwenda village, Kuresoi North, following a joint manhunt by detectives. He had been on the run since September 4, when Wangui, a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School, was found dead inside her home.
Wangui’s brother reportedly returned home from a nearby shop and discovered her body lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, with her head severed.

At the time of his arrest, Kipkoech was reportedly wearing a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing Wangui’s name at the hem and black jeans with dry blood stains.
Preliminary investigations indicate Kipkoech was Wangui’s boyfriend, with detectives pursuing a relationship dispute as a possible motive.
He is being held at Molo Police Station pending arraignment as investigations continue.
