A collage of photos showing the rabid dogs that mauled Jonathan Lelenguiya to death Days after this blog highlighted their plight, the family of Jonathan Lelenguiya, a security guard who was mauled to death by four dogs in an attack at the Swami Container Depot Limited yard in Embakasi, Nairobi, has found renewed hope for justice.
About a week ago, Mr Lelenguiya's friends and relatives expressed suspicions that the wealthy Asian owner of the dogs was conspiring to compromise the case by meddling with evidence at the scene of the crime.
He even got rid of the rabid canines responsible for the heinous attack.
This was done without informing legal authorities.
His colleagues were reportedly told to “sign documents which they don’t understand”.
The Asian tycoon was clearly using his power and influence to arm-twist law enforcement officers in his favour. The pressure proved too much for Mombasa Road OCS to handle.

Mr Lelenguiya, who was a guard at Malplast Industries Limited – a private security company in the same area – was walking home on Monday, October 10, when he decided to pass by the neighbouring yard to say to a friend.
When he arrived at the depot, the German Shepherd dogs, which were loose, started to chase him as he took to his heels.
In a rather unfortunate turn of events, the gate behind him had automatically locked itself, which prevented him from escaping.
The four dogs pushed him to the ground and attacked him as he screamed for his dear life.
The handler who was present failed to control the animals as they mauled the helpless guard.
The handler had to call for help to successfully fight off and contain the dogs.
But by then, the deceased had already sustained serious injuries.
An ambulance was called to the scene and rushed him to the Bellevue South Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Medics stated he had bled too much and was too weak.
The body was in a bad state; the dogs cut his throat and ate his hands.
Sources say it is not the first time such an incident has been reported at Swami Container Depot, which is owned by a wealthy and powerful tycoon.
Section 243 (d) of the Penal Code says any person who, in a manner so rash or negligent as to endanger human life or to be likely to cause harm to any other person, omits to take precautions against any probable danger from any animal in his possession is guilty of a misdemeanour.
