In a message forwarded to nyakundireport.com , a distressed teacher at the learning institution set against the serene background of the Thompson’s Falls in Nyahururu County revealed that since March 2022, cash flow hitches have become a major challenge with the rising cost of living a constant pain in the neck.
It is reported that as all this has been happening, the school's owner - former Nyandarua governor Waithaka Mwangi - has been making trips around the county campaigning for a second stint in office after having been defeated following his first term.
Although most members of the workforce are irked by the current sad state of affairs, most are too afraid to speak out. The system here is so draconian that many of us would rather suffer in fear than ask why. His son Ezekiel Mwangi and daughter Tabitha are so cocky and arrogant. Former Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka is the Director and proprietor of Elite School in Nyahururu.
In 2018, Waithaka was arrested alongside former County Water CEC Grace Wanjiru and former director in the Department of Water, Environment and Natural Resources Kahiu Gaiko for alleged involvement in dubious Sh50 million water and sewerage tender issued in 2014.
Mr Waithaka also faced a charge of abuse of office, contrary to section 46 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.
Daniel Waithaka entered electoral politics in 2007 when he contested Ol Kalou's parliamentary seat on a Mazingira Greens Party.
He was defeated by Erastus Mureithi, of the PNU Coalition.
He later rejoined politics in 2012 and successfully contested the governorship of Nyandarua under the Jubilee coalition party TNA.
