Pressure from disgruntled clients made Urithi pay models to pose on one of their unfinished projects, stating that the project will be completed soon.
Clients of Urithi Sacco have written to the government asking for help in what they see as another case of a collapsing outfit that'll wipe out their savings.
The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Industrialisation and the Principal Secretay have been updated on the goings-on at the Urithi Housing Sacco.
The members who are in the thousands accuse the Sacco managers of coning them out of their hard-earned money.
"Scam,,, scam by Urithi HCSL. But it is the end of conning tricks by get money by false pretence', one wrote on their Telegram Channel that they have opened so as to mobilise each other and to take action.
Another wrote, "Congrats, that you guys formed the group. I tried to focus on other things and forget. Coz l tried b4 to email Urithi to refund my funds with no success"
Their messages are varied in that Teelgram group, but all points towards search for justice. We share some in Italics below: "Another morning to continue asking wat is ours, we will and shall not be threatened by side shows. Every single person who looked into your eyes and lied. Bring them here we shame them. It's our money we worked for". I still insist , dragging the employee who sold you 'air' as some of us prefer to call this ghost projects will not yield anything . Remember ; our contracts are drawn between Urithi and yourself . His/her name as a sales/marketing person does not appear anywhere on this document. Let's direct our anger, frustration and disappointment to Mr. Maina and the board that makes decisions . Recently, the embattled managers of the Sacco sponsored a hashtag on Twitter but that was soon shot down by disgruntled clients. I would like to bring to your attention continued fraud by Urithi Housing Cooperative Society. The fraud is currently underway and many unsuspecting members of the public will continue to loose millions of money UNLESS THE GOVERNMENT OF KENYA ACT SWIFTLY to protect innocent members of the public from loosing money.
Over the weekend , Urithi and the Chairman , Samuel Maina, in spite of being aware of complains of nonperformance and fraud against him and Urithi, have over the weekend unashamedly started a marketing blitz by paid tweeter influencers to lure unsuspecting members of the public , yet thousands of investors including myself have lost billions in money with Urithi.
I therefore urge the government to ACT FAST and consider the following actions, Revoke the operating license of Urithi Housing Cooperative society with immediate effect to protect unsuspecting members of the public from continued swindling. Freeze the transfer of all assets of Urithi Housing Cooperative Society including cash forthwith. Audit the operations of Urithi Cooperative society since its inception. Audit the lifestyle of the Chairman, Treasurer and executive management board and senior manger Trace and recover assets members assets which the chairman has unjustifiably allocated to himself.
