Mukhtar took over the office following the Senate's decision to uphold Wajir County Assembly's decision to impeach Mohamud. undertaken by the Wajir County Assembly. The troubled governor is said to have arrived at the meeting earlier than his rival, occupying the seat reserved for Governor Mukhtar.
Mohamud was impeached on grounds of gross misconduct and misuse of office among other allegations.
His troubles worsened in June after the national government honoured the request by Mukhtar to have the cars assigned to his predecessor withdrawn.
Mohamud then went ahead and acquired the above vehicle with forged "GVN 001" plates.
