Dictator Museveni Shuts Down Big Tech Platforms Ahead of Elections

The longest-serving Ugandan Ruler Yoweri Museveni has given a middle finger to Big Tech platforms and Silicon Valley apps . Yesterday, the archaic Ugandan President ordered internet service providers to block all social media platforms and messaging apps until further notice. " Uganda Communications Commission hereby directs you to immediately suspend any access and use, direct or otherwise, of all social media platforms and online messaging applications over your network until further notice,” said the letter from the commission’s executive director to internet providers. Reuters reports that they tried calling commission’s spokesman Ibrahim Bbossa and government spokesman Ofwono Opondo but the two did not answer calls requesting comment. Ugandans have complained that they were unable to access Facebook and WhatsApp, social media platforms. An aide to Minister of Information Judith Nabakooba said the government had made clear to executives at telecoms companies that the social media ban was in retaliation for Facebook blocking some pro-government accounts. Earlier this month, Uganda hired black hat hackers who pulled down alternative media(Ghetto media) used by Robert Kyangulanyi alias Bobi Wine. UCC has also banned Bobi Wine from conducting any talk show on Uganda's mainstream radio and TV stations. Bobi's rallies were filled with blood after Museveni's uniformed forced were dispatched to slaughter fellow countrypeople. All this has not happened to Museveni's camp which enjoyed presidential escorts throughout the campaign period.
