Despite the fact that Police officers are the most poorly-paid staffers in Kenya, the demand to join the force is the highest, with many bribing their way into recruitment excercises. But it's the mirage of extortion, the prospect of receiving bribes, and the conditioning that one is serving their country, that leads many to join the force. Look at their housing and it's pathetic. You cannot believe that the guns, handcuffs and bullets that an ordinary policeman has, is valued more than his entire worldly possessions in the ramshackles...
