Used and dumped like OB Tampons is how we can describe the Kenya Police officers. They are taught in an inferior college then dispatched to the most hostile of territories for meagre pay and bad employment terms.
Despite the fact that Police officers are the most poorly-paid staffers in Kenya, the demand to join the force is the highest, with many bribing their way into recruitment excercises. But it's the mirage of extortion, the prospect of receiving bribes, and the conditioning that one is serving their country, that leads many to join the force.
Look at their housing and it's pathetic. You cannot believe that the guns, handcuffs and bullets that an ordinary policeman has, is valued more than his entire worldly possessions in the ramshackles they live in.
We keep telling these stupid police officers to join us in the struggle for a just Government that treats it's citizens with dignity, but the idiots keep being misused by the political class to disregard the law and even kill protesters.
While citizens are fighting for better housing, pay and working conditions for police including rehabilitating the dilapidated police cells, the rural-bred police officers are instead shooting them dead at the behest of the political class who don't give a shit about them.
Do Police Officers really believe that Uhuru and Ruto care about their plight? They spend more money buying un-used weapons because of the assured tender commissions, instead of re-investing in training, accommodation and insurance for these overworked and underpaid policemen.
So when I got this email, I asked myself, should we as ordinary Kenyans care that more than 10,000 police officers haven't received their May salaries?
The same was not communicated to them. The same would have been communicated to them using their commands, sms on their phones, etc.
Some disgruntled officers are lamenting that those who didn't receive their salaries are those who haven't signed their wealth declaration forms.
Most Kenya Police officers work in operational areas where even food and water is challenge leave alone communication.
We now take this opportunity to request police officers to reflect. Look at the pathetic conditions you have to endure, look at the pathetic police stations you work in, look at the bogus cells you lock up suspects, look at your miserable pay, look at your mabati houses which you have to endure the indignity of sharing with other families, and think twice when Jubilee order you to shoot demonstrators.
We are fighting everyday so that your pathetic lives may be improved using our tax money. So that you can stop soliciting bribes everyday. So that you're guaranteed of decent livelihoods. And it's possible. If you look at the amount of money stolen by Jubilee, it's enough to do all that and more.
