The most deplatformed Blogger, the veritable force in Kenya against corruption, mediocrity and rabid feminism, Cyprian Nyakundi was nominated as one of the most influential person by the Youths in Kenya.
The award organized and sponsored by My Leader Kenya, awarded the controversial blogger as the first Runners Up in the Category: Leading Social Media Influencer Promoting Positive Youth Agenda at the Vijana na Biashara Expo, an event bringing together Youths in Business to create opportunities for employment and empowerment.
Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi was nominated by youths from the 47 counties of Kenya.
‘In this award, we had a public youth event where all youths from 47 counties came together and voted different categories of influencers’, said one of the organizers Peter Kibe.
Peter Kibe is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Six Ideas Branding Limited. Censorship Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi is one of the most de-platformed and censored bloggers in Africa. This points to his position in articulating serious issues in the continent.
In October 2017, he was nominated for the Global Freedom of Expression Award.
“We wanted to let you know that you have been nominated by a member of the public for Index on Censorship’s Freedom of Expression Awards Fellowship 2018 in the campaigning category” read their email in part.
Apart from censorship where the blogger has seen his Twitter, Youtube, Daily Motion and Facebook pages pulled down, he has had to endure death threats and law suits.
‘Cyprian Nyakundi has been subject to systemic state-sponsored death-threats, and is facing multiple law-suits from several corporate bodies, including National Bank of Kenya, Kenya Pipeline Company, Housing Finance Bank and Safaricom Kenya Limited’, companies which he has exposed for corruption. The 2019 award In the same award, Metropol TV was recognized as Leading Media House (TV) that promotes more positive content Youth Content.
‘My Leader Kenya on Wednesday awarded Metropol TV Kenya as the leading Television transforming the society through creating awareness on matters relating to Youth in Kenya.
The media house was voted by the youth from all over Kenya in an exercise that took about three months’, My Leader Kenya wrote on their website.
‘Both nominations and voting were done online, something that has communicated very loudly on the impact of digitization. It shows what great things the youth can be able to achieve if they would embrace and use the digital positively, it concluded.
