[ad_1] Parents in Western region have appealed to Teachers Service Commission to recover money from primary school headteachers who did not attend Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association meeting in Mombasa recently but pocketed school money purporting to be travelling to Mombasa. They said TSC should recover the money and put it in bank accounts of respective schools so that they can be used to initiate other projects because it belongs to parents.
Speaking to Weekly Citizen on condition of anonymity, the parents said TSC should act immediately in order to show an example to errand heads whose main aim is to swindle school funds openly.
They said the headteachers should be investigated for embezzling school funds which is corruption. The parents revealed that some of school heads have been pocketing the money every year but they do not go to Mombasa to attend the Kepsha AGM.
Investigations done by Weekly Citizen established that some heads use part of the money on personal projects in their homes while others squander it with their girlfriends.
“Some of the headteachers are seen roaming in town after assuring parents that they will be travelling to Mombasa for the meeting,” a parent claimed.
Weekly Citizen further established that headteachers involved in the scandals collude with board of management chairmen of their schools by bribing them with part of the money.
Headteachers are paid allowances of about Sh30,000. Some give part of the money to officers in education officers in order to buy protection for not going for the meetings. It was also revealed that headteachers embezzle school funds openly because they have pocketed BOM chairmen who are supposed to oversight them
