Kisii University is closing down its Nairobi branches to concentrate on online learning.
'Following the discussion and consideration by the University Management Board on the current operations of Nairobi campus, vide SPEC/UMB/07/06/2020, it was resolved that we close operations at Nairobi campus by 30th June, 2020', a memo seen by nyakundireport.com states in part.
Problem is, some lecturers say they have not been paid since 2016.
The lecturers are now seeking audience with the Ministry of Education and the Education committee before heading to the labour court to help solve their grievances, stating that the 'president gave and order for public institutions to clear the pending Bill's to enable circulation of money to the economy' and as such they should be paid.
Covid-19 pandemic has affected most sectors of the economy except the Google loon project which the president unashamedly launched while Kenyans were worried where they'll get food.
The University is now auditing its assets in Nairobi as they seek to vacate 10th and 14th floors of Corner House, Nairobi.
They are also renting a small space to help coordinate online learning as no physical classes will be allowed henceforth.
All students currently on campus have been forcefully moved to e-learning.
New admissions are now on e-learning only.
