I am happy to read your post on Shabiki which I identify with.
Betting and other money games assaulting us through our phones are the devil’s workshops to make disciples of many desperate Kenyans to steal the little they have.
It is true no money goes to the supposed winners. The way the prizes are awarded is quite interesting and stinks of SMART THIEVING. Well I swore never to bet 3 years ago after losing my 3k to a famous and international betting firm. I didn’t win even the lowest Kshs. 75. The Kshs. 2 million I targeted was a mirage. However, I watch these many betting firms on the TV. And I just sympathize with those addicted to gambling.
This Shabiki started off as a saviour from poverty as it asked for only bao to win hundreds of thousands. The prizes kept fluctuating and I always wondered why. So many "winners" have come to show off their dummy checks of hundreds of thousands or even millions. I remember seeing a winner of Kshs. 33 million somewhere in Ukambani. As usual the neighbours celebrated with the winner if he really won that much.
The big question has always been why the betting houses don’t follow up the winners to show us how they have used the money to improve their economic status. Why?
So gambling is simply a diabolic way of stealing from desperate poor. Quite a number of these desperados kill themselves upon losing all to the betting houses. Who is to blame?
I wish all manner of gambling and other money games played through our phones could be banned. It is the lesser evil.
As for the betting houses they have and take all but wont be satiated because of what the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 5:10. Indeed such are the poor because their poverty is psychological not physical. They are poorer than that common beggar who depends on alms for his daily bread.
He has no bank account to worry about when he will make his third billion. And he has no one to steal from. Lazarus. Not Zaccheus who stopped stealing from people just in time.
