This time around, Bunyore Girls - a national girls’ High School in Emuhaya, Vihiga County - is under the spotlight for running a well-orchestrated extortion scheme in the clever guise of a development project.
A concerned guardian who reached out to this blog on Saturday, 11 June, disclosed how the school’s greedy administration is demanding exorbitant amounts of money as contributions towards the purported construction of a dormitory.
This activity is not in the Ministry of Education guidelines.
According to the insider who requested anonymity, the school’s heads claimed that an unplanned excess admission of students occasioned the sudden and expensive venture that the government should ideally fund.
To make matters worse, they only placed the heavy burden on those with their daughters in Form 2.
This will see each parent fork out up to Sh20,000 payable in two annual instalments of Sh10,000.
From a pool of over 469 students from two streams of classes, they will undoubtedly smile all the way to the bank to collect their millions without breaking a single sweat.
To make sure they don’t get caught dipping their filthy hands in the honeypot, they have not included the charges in the official Bunyore Girls’ newsletter and only passed around through word of mouth. “Hello Nyakundi, I am a parent in Bunyore Girls.
