A British citizen in Kenya is crying out for justice with claims that some persons are trying to forcefully grab his land.
Sources privy to the matter have reliably informed us that a group of rogue auctioneers armed with crude weapons stormed into his property in Westlands on Friday, November 7, completely ransacked the house and threw out valuable items; including electronics, jewellery, household items, personal documents, company documents, clothes, and money.
The so-called auctioneers failed to introduce themselves and seriously injured an innocent security guard who tried to get in their way.
Efforts to seek police intervention proved futile as a group of officers who had been called into the incident received orders from above not to interfere with the eviction which the victims term illegal.
They left a few moments later, which allowed the rowdy goons to cause unseen mayhem.
The destruction was so bad that random passersby took advantage of the situation and stole some of the items scattered all over the compound. A British citizen having lived in Kenya for 50 years was evicted from his home on 4th November 2022. An auctioneer by the name of Baraza and 30 people carrying crowbars and machetes descended on the property situated in Westlands, School Lane (LR 1870/III/46) at around 12:30 pm. They broke into the property, climbing over the gate and through the neighbours' fence and entered the compound. Once inside the compound, Baraza's men attacked my guard and hit him with a stone and crowbar, the guard was profusely bleeding and had to be rushed to the hospital. His wife was terrified and scared for her life as she thought they had come to rob and murder her and God only knows what was going through her mind when she saw these 30 men, as she was alone in the house. Baraza and his men broke into the house using crow-bars and Baraza refused to identify himself and just flashed the court orders quickly to my wife saying these are eviction orders – he did not give her a chance to read the document properly – my wife just read LARIAK PROPERTIES LIMITED vs the claimant and starting questioning Baraza about who Lariak Properties Limited are and what the claimant had to do with the property. He refused to let her read the full court document or give her a copy. Baraza casually informed her she has 30 minutes to pack and his men will then start throwing things out of the property. They did not even wait for 30 minutes, within 15 minutes they started throwing out of the property, starting stealing, drinking and eating. They have lost, laptops, iPads, iPhones, various jewellery, watches, camera, electronic items, household items, personal documents, company documents, clothes, and money. His wife called him and he rushed home – it took him about 45 to get home from work. When he arrived he found his property had been thrown out and people were running in and out of the main gate. They were stealing things and giving them to their colleagues who were waiting outside on bikes (boda boda) to carry away items. When he entered the premises, he asked Baraza for the court order – he refused to show him the orders saying he has shown the copy to my wife. He blatantly refused to show him the copy even after having asked several times for the next 4 hours. His lawyer arrived at the premises at around 1:30 pm and asked Baraza for a copy – he refused to give the copy. The lawyer had called the media to record the impunity but Baraza refused to allow the media in and when he found out the lawyer had called the media he threw him out of the property physically – refusing him entry. We had asked friends and family for help and they had contacted the OCI of Parklands and Spring Valley, the OCPD, and police officers of parklands, spring valley and Gigiri to send police to the premises to stop this unauthorised eviction – several police officers in uniform and plain clothes came for the next one hour to the premises but within 15 minutes they all left the premises without helping us. Someone in higher authority was informing the police not to interfere in the illegal eviction. They were left helpless and heartbroken to see these people destroy their property and there was nothing they could do – is this how British citizens or anyone is treated in Kenya? They have no rights in this country while having lived peacefully in this country for over 50 years. They had to hire trucks to move whatever items they could salvage to a secure place but time was not on their side. At around 6 pm Baraza started instructing his workers to throw our stuff onto the roadside, while they were frantically trying to salvage what they could and obviously lost a lot more items in the process as whatever they were moving put was getting stolen. They are now homeless trying to comprehend what has just happened and the house has already been demolished in the meantime. All this happened in a matter of 48 hours as they were very smart to come on a Friday afternoon when they knew it would be very difficult or almost impossible to get the officials. They are urgently seeking help in recovering what is left of the property back from these lawless people. They have taken the property illegally and the police who are supposed to protect the innocent are sitting back and not taking any action," the source said, attaching the photos and videos below.
