My mum asked me to share my story with you hope you can help.
I was employed by the Newscafe Sarit centre as a hostess from 10/7/2016. I was told I was to be paid 550 per day before getting my job contract which was to be after 3 months at the end of July. I was paid 9000kshs. Come August, I was sick due to my chronic tonsillitis and was absent for 3 days. I resumed work with a letter from Dr Masinde of Kenyatta hospital private wing which I handed it to a Mr Lawrence, who failed to deliver it to the HR.At the end of the month I came to realize he didn't hand it over and I was paid 12,000kshs less 5050 which after I tried to inquire from the HR Miss Agnes Njuguna, said she didn't get any letter from management and I was supposed to be paid 450 per day, contrary to the previous agreement with Mrs Pauline Mulama, despite the fact that I used to work longer hours than needed but wasn't paid a single cent for overtime.
Miss Njuguna told me if that was the agreement to pay me 550 per day, the reminder of the pay will be topped up at the next month's salary, which never happened.
Come September I was sick tonsillitis for 4 days I went to seek alternative treatment from Dr D'cruz at electricity house where he prescribed medicatio for me instead of the surgery that Dr Masinde and a Dr mwaniki had settled for.
When I took this doctor's letters to work as proof I was sick and had been to hospital, it all fell on deaf ears especially to Mrs Pauline Mulama who went to an extent of accusing me to be having sexual encounters with the doctors that's why they were always writing my sick offs.
She had always been on my case driven by jealousy, malice that intrigued me, as I have never caused her any consternation or even crossed her path. If I had make-up on, it was an Issue for her; if I came in dressed well before I head to the changing room to put on my uniform, she would say how I was dressed and looking like a prostitute. She forced the current manager Miss Elizabeth to send a mail to the general manager Mr Omparakas with a lot of tramped up reasons meant to frustrated me.
Due to the pressure at work I decided to hand in my resignation letter to the GM on 27/9/2016 explaining my reasons for quitting and reason since there was no hostess on that night I had to stay work for them.
When I went to take my payment cheque around 5/10/2016, I was shocked to find out they had written shocked to see that it was only Kshs. 7000 yet I have worked for more than that and they still owe me for the other two months.
Till today no one has contacted me to provide an explanation on why all this happened and pay me my money in full.
Please help me recover my dues. I worked so hard for them so they should pay me. Funny thing is other employees don't get dedicated for days they spend home whether they come back with sick off or not. This is the number of the owner of Newcafe chain of restaurants Mr Pierre +254722202167.
