Anne Waiguru and President Uhuru Kenyatta's story has for a long time left many Kenyans with very many unanswered questions. This lady hails from Gichugu constituency, the home of Martha Karua in Kirinyaga county.
This lady Waiguru got her first job when Uhuru appointed as the new chairman of the Kenya Tourism Board by President Moi in 1999 where he worked with Kenya’s political power-broker. Later when Uhuru was nominated to Parliament in 2001 by president Moi in the KANU regime and subsequently as the Minister for local government , he then moved Waiguru with him in his new office. At this time Waiguru was working in Uhuru’s office where she happened to be the closest staff member to the boss.
In February 2008 after Kibaki and Odinga reached a power-sharing agreement, Kenyatta was named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade on 13 April 2008, as usual he appointed Waiguru to work at the ministry of Trade as a senior staff. Later Uhuru Kenyatta was moved from the post of Minister for Trade and appointed Minister for Finance on 23 January 2009, where he also relocated Waiguru to the ministry of finance together with him.
Following the March 4rth Elections Uhuru was declared the president of Kenya after winning the Elections. He later named his cabinet Secretaries where as expected he appointed his lifetime workmate Anne Waiguru again as the Cabinet Secretary incharge of Ministry of Devolution and planning. Recently at Waiguru’s homecoming Ceremony at Gichugu it appeared to be like the most decent ceremony to have been attended by the highest number of Jubilee MPs, Governors and Senators a function which was also attended by the president himself...
The president gave very many goodies to Gichugu people courtesy of Waiguru where she was also crowned as a leader by the local elders. Now questions have been raised about this longterm ‘permanent’ friendship between this two close allies.
