[ad_1] The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has revealed that 80% of the victims of road accidents are men. Out of the 3,123 deaths recorded between January and November, the number of male victims stood at 2,263 while female victims were 459 which translates to 16.7%. According to NTSA, a majority of the deaths are caused by road user behaviour with other causes including driver user behaviour, motor vehicle related issues and road infrastructure issues. NTSA reported that approximately 160,000 vehicles on Kenyan roads have expired inspection certificates. Those between 25 and 29 were 298 as were those between 30 and 34 years. Those between 35 and 39 were 270. Most accident victims are pedestrians - NTSA NTSA also revealed that majority of the victims are pedestrians at 1,206 while motorcyclists, passengers and drivers accounted for 640, 621 and 298 respectively. In addition to those who perished in road accidents, 1,111 pedestrians suffered serious injuries from road accidents. 1,154 motorcyclists are also reported to be nursing injuries. Majority of the cars involved in road accidents were found to be private cars followed by commercial vehicles, motor cycles, PSVs, government vehicles and tuk tuks respectively.
