Nearly 1,000 final-year students at Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), Nairobi Campus, have raised concerns after being excluded from the institution's November 7, 2026 graduation list despite completing their academic requirements, clearing outstanding fees and undergoing verification of their examination results.
In a complaint shared with Nyakundi Report, the affected Class of 2026 students, drawn from different departments, say their names were missing from the first graduation list, prompting them to seek clarification from university officials. Following their complaints, the university conducted a second audit and verification of academic marks, after which the students say they were assured their names would appear on the final list. However, when the revised list was released on October 28, their names were still missing, leaving them frustrated and without any written explanation for their exclusion.
The students maintain that they have completed their coursework, passed the required examinations, verified their academic records and settled all university fees. They say repeated attempts to obtain answers from the Nairobi Campus administration and their respective departments have yielded no meaningful response, despite graduation being only days away. The situation has caused anxiety among students who have already made preparations to graduate alongside their classmates, with some families expected to travel to attend the ceremony.
The affected students are now calling on KeMU Vice-Chancellor and university management to urgently review their records, explain the omissions and ensure that all academically and financially cleared students are considered for inclusion before November 7. They are also requesting that their identities be protected for fear of victimisation.
With graduation fast approaching, KeMU management must urgently address the students' complaints rather than leave nearly 1,000 prospective graduates facing uncertainty over a ceremony they have spent years working towards.
KeMU Nairobi Students Excluded From 7th Nov Graduation List Despite Full Clearance
Hello Nyakundi, Kindly Hide my ID. We are final year students from Kenya Methodist University from different departments, Class of 2026. We are writing to seek your help to highlight our situation.
Our graduation is scheduled for 7th November 2026, but around 1000 of us have been excluded and are not on the graduation list despite completing all academic requirements and full financial clearance.
What happened? The first graduation list was released, and our names were missing.
We reported to the University and our respective departments, and a second auditing/verification of marks was done. We were assured we would be included in the final list. The second list was released on 28th October 2026, and our names were still excluded, with no written explanation.
We have completed our clearance, we have no fee balances, and our marks were verified. We have tried to get answers from the Nairobi campus offices without success. We are now in distress because time is short before 7th November.
We are requesting the university management to look into our cases urgently and give us a fair chance to graduate with our fellow students
