Courier and delivery platforms including Uber, Bolt, Glovo and Little will be required to retain information on parcels and customers under new licensing rules being implemented by the Communications Authority.
The records can be accessed by the Kenya Revenue Authority, police and other authorised government agencies where required.
The rules require digital delivery companies to keep information including parcel contents, sender and recipient details and transaction records.
Digital courier firms will also be required to obtain licences, with an initial application fee of Sh100,000 and an annual operating fee of Sh100,000.
