Precious Wambui has been reunited with her mother after more than a year apart following her mother’s deportation from Saudi Arabia in March last year.

The child had remained in Saudi Arabia under the care of a Good Samaritan while Kenyan authorities worked through documentation, custody and repatriation requirements.

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs coordinated with Saudi authorities and Kenya’s embassy to facilitate the child’s return.

The case highlights the complications that can arise when Kenyan migrant workers are deported while their children remain abroad without complete travel documentation.
