President William Ruto has ruled out working with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua under the current political circumstances, arguing that their relationship broke down because of political differences and what he described as divisive mobilisation.

Ruto said he is prepared to work with leaders from across the country where there is agreement on a national agenda, but suggested that renewed cooperation with Gachagua would be difficult while their political approaches remain opposed.

The remarks come as Gachagua consolidates his position in Mount Kenya and works with opposition figures ahead of 2027, making the region one of the most contested blocs in the next presidential election.
