The Small Claims Court has ordered a woman to refund nearly Sh1 million borrowed through a series of M-Pesa transfers after a dispute over money she received to help secure a job with the Teachers Service Commission.
The claimant produced M-Pesa statements showing multiple transfers, while the defendant disputed the purpose of the payments and denied aspects of the alleged arrangement.
The court found that the transaction amounted to a recoverable debt and ordered repayment, highlighting the growing use of mobile-money records as evidence in private financial disputes.
