Workers at Kevian Kenya Limited are once again appealing for management to review the salaries of lower paid employees, saying that while the company has reportedly made progress in addressing concerns over overtime, many workers remain stuck with wages they believe no longer match the cost of living.
The latest appeal comes months after employees raised concerns about long working hours and alleged unpaid overtime. According to the whistleblower, the company responded by addressing some of those issues.
The workers say they appreciate that action was taken.
They now want management to turn its attention to another issue they believe has been overlooked.
According to the complainant, employees earning the lowest salaries were left out when salary adjustments were made, leaving many struggling to cope with rising household expenses.
The allegations, which have not been independently verified, suggest that a section of the workforce feels the recent changes did not benefit everyone equally.
The employee says many workers continue to perform demanding duties while earning salaries they believe are too low compared to the workload and the rising cost of basic necessities.
Workers argue that salary reviews should be fair and should not leave behind employees in the lowest pay brackets, who are often the most affected by inflation and increasing living costs.
The appeal now places responsibility on the leadership of Kevian Kenya Limited, including the company's management and human resources department, to explain the criteria used during the salary review and whether additional adjustments are being considered for employees whose wages remain below expectations.
The matter may also be of interest to the State Department for Labour and Skills Development, whose labour officers are responsible for ensuring compliance with Kenya's employment laws, including statutory minimum wages where applicable.
Employees say they are not seeking special treatment.
They say they simply want a fair review that recognizes the contribution of lower paid workers who keep the company's operations running every day.
Below is the complaint received.

After posting about Kevian Kenya Limited on how they overworked employees and were not paying all overtime, they slightly worked on the issue.
However, those of us earning lower salaries were left behind during the salary increment.
