Institutions of higher learning are expected to provide students with a conducive environment for learning, timely academic feedback, and professional mentorship. Academic results are not merely pieces of paper; they are critical indicators that help students understand their progress, identify areas requiring improvement, and prepare adequately for future examinations and professional practice.
When examination results are delayed for extended periods, students are often left in uncertainty and anxiety. Such delays can affect academic planning, progression, resits, clinical placements, and overall confidence in the institution's ability to effectively manage academic affairs. Students deserve transparency regarding their performance and clear communication from administrators whenever delays occur.
Even more concerning are allegations of unprofessional conduct by members of staff entrusted with training future healthcare professionals. Medical training institutions are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and accountability. Any claims of favoritism, sexual exploitation, harassment, or discrimination should be taken seriously and subjected to independent investigation.
Hello Nyakundi,
Kindly hide my identity.
I would like to raise serious concerns regarding the situation at KMTC Ndhiwa, which is headed by Mr. Bruce.
Students are currently preparing to sit another round of end-semester examinations, yet many of us have still not received our results from the previous semester that ended in late February.
This means students are being expected to continue with their studies and prepare for new examinations without knowing whether they passed or failed units from the previous semester.
Some students may need to resit certain units, but because results have not been released, they have no way of knowing their academic standing or making the necessary preparations.
Whenever students seek clarification regarding the delayed results, we are allegedly met with hostility, intimidation, or dismissive responses. Many students now fear asking questions because they believe doing so may attract unnecessary attention or victimization.
The prolonged delay has created confusion, anxiety, and frustration among students who simply want to know where they stand academically.
Unfortunately, concerns at the institution go beyond academics.
There are growing allegations among students that some members of staff are engaging in inappropriate relationships and unprofessional conduct involving female students.
Students claim that certain lecturers and staff members take advantage of their positions of authority to pursue relationships with female students, creating an environment that many describe as uncomfortable and exploitative.
Even more troubling are allegations that female students who reject such advances may face hostility, prejudice, discrimination, or unfair treatment.
While these claims require thorough and independent investigation, they have become a common topic of discussion among students and have contributed to a growing loss of confidence in the institution's leadership.
Students feel that instead of focusing on academic excellence, professionalism, and mentorship, attention is increasingly being diverted to issues that have no place in a training institution.
Many of us joined KMTC to pursue healthcare careers and serve our communities. We expected a professional learning environment where academic performance would determine success.
Instead, students are now questioning why examination results remain unreleased months after the semester ended and why serious allegations regarding staff conduct continue to circulate without being addressed.
We are therefore appealing to the KMTC leadership, the Ministry of Health, the KMTC Board, and relevant oversight bodies to urgently investigate these concerns.
Why have students not received their results months after examinations were completed?
What is causing the delay?
Why are students being left in the dark about their academic progress?
And what measures are being taken to investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct involving members of staff?
Students deserve timely results, fair treatment, and a safe learning environment free from intimidation, favoritism, and exploitation.
We hope the relevant authorities will intervene before the situation deteriorates further.
Concerned KMTC Ndhiwa Student.
