An insider at Riara Girls High School has raised concerns over the school environment, claiming that approximately 40 to 50 Grade 10 students have transferred out of the institution amid growing dissatisfaction among learners.
According to the insider, the departures have triggered attempts by the school administration to introduce changes, but students still feel that the situation has not meaningfully improved.
The source claims that Ms. Mulinge has been trying to change the school after the transfers, but learners still complain of favouritism, discrimination and inconsistent application of school rules.
“It has been confirmed that approximately 40 to 50 Grade 10s have transferred out of Riara, and Ms. Mulinge is trying to change the school after that, but there is no change. She favours students still, discriminates, and people go home without evidence,” the insider claimed.
The source further alleges that school rules are not applied equally, claiming that prefects are treated differently from ordinary students.
According to the insider, this has created frustration among learners who feel that discipline and school policies are selectively enforced.
The complaint also raises concerns over the workload faced by Form Four students, with the insider claiming that candidates are struggling with excessive academic pressure and lack of free time.
“The Form Fours are struggling with overload of work and no free time at all,” the source said.
The insider described the school environment as stressful, saying it is affecting students’ mental health.
“As an insider this has to stop. It makes our mental health deteriorate in such an environment,” the source added.
The concerns now being raised touch on student welfare, academic pressure, discipline, mental health, administrative fairness and the handling of complaints inside the school.
The school is being urged to listen to students and parents, address concerns around transfers, review workload pressure, ensure rules apply equally to all learners and create safe channels where students can report issues without fear.
Riara Girls High School and the officials mentioned in the complaint are named in the concerns raised by the insider.
This is a developing story.
