The National Police Service has reshuffled President William Ruto’s security team after a breach during a public event in Ganze, Kilifi County. Deputy Inspector General Noah Kirwa Maiyo has been removed as Commandant of the Presidential Escort Unit and reassigned to Police Headquarters in Nairobi. He is replaced by William Sawe, formerly of the Recce sub-unit. Inspector General Douglas Kanja said the changes were ordered after a man accessed the presidential dais before being intercepted, exposing security gaps. Other senior officers were also redeployed in a wider shake-up aimed at strengthening command and tightening protection protocols around the Head of State following repeated recent security lapses.
