My Mother's Death At Ruaraka Police Station.

My story is quite similar to this Korane issue. My mother was our sole breadwinner and travelled between Kenya and Tanzania as a Mtumba seller.

She also had a small coca-cola duka in Gikomba where we used to go for lunch daily as we schooled nearby and helped her attend to during the weekends. She died at Ruaraka police station after being illegally detained by one corporal Maina and Ngombe.

They locked her up and beat her to death. On realizing they had killed her, the police stripped all her bloodied clothes and burnt them. They then tied a blanket around her neck and said she had hanged herself.

Her story was featured in 'the society' magazine, I have attached the article. The post-mortem results showed she died because of blunt injuries to the liver, I have also attached the same. I remember seeing the pictures in court, she only had a black kamisi on and a grey blanket around her neck.

It was traumatizing to see that as a child. The system failed us and the murderers corporal Maina and Ngombe are still roaming free, enjoying some promotion or their retirement, I don't know. We struggled a lot as no children's' home could take us in at our age.

I am sharing this story to let Kenyans know that no matter your tribe we are all going through the same shit and it is wrong to assume all Kikuyus side with a whacked system.

I never voted for Kenyatta but I will probably be called Muthamaki because of my names.

I hope we can all see past the illusion of tribes that have been set up to divide and conquer us. We all want the same things, we all have one enemy.

We can only crash them together.
