Story · Kulan Post Journalist Arrested For Filming Bribe-Taking Official

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Mohamed Barre for declining to disclose the source of the recorded video he posted showing Wajir County Architectural Assistant, Stephen Ndathu receiving bribe from contractors at his office.

Last year the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) published a report showing counties where county officials are demanding hefty bribes in exchange for services.

Officials from Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties topped the list of bribe-seekers as citizens are asked to pay money in order to get public services. Wajir County topped the list of high chances of bribery followed by Tana River, Mandera, Kakamega, Busia, Narok, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisii, and Homabay.

Question is, why would they arrest a journalist and not the bribe-taking government official?
