Frustrated residents who have repeatedly been attempting to access services at the Kericho County Government offices are now reporting widespread obstruction, with claims that public servants are routinely unavailable and access is being denied without explanation.
Visitors are allegedly turned away at reception under the pretext that county officials are in meetings of unspecified duration, effectively cutting off public engagement and basic service delivery.

This pattern of inaccessibility, which sources say has become increasingly common over recent weeks, appears to be part of a broader culture of administrative aloofness that has left many residents feeling shut out from their own government, particularly those without prior appointments or political connections.
According to those familiar with the inner workings of the Kericho County offices, the situation has deteriorated to the point where even elected Members of the County Assembly have begun mobilizing efforts to initiate impeachment proceedings against senior county officials, including Governor Dr. Erick Mutai, with the aim of restoring functional accountability and ending what they describe as systemic neglect of duty.
“Hi Mr. Nyakundi. We have a serious mess at the Kericho County Government. Receptionists have been instructed to tell anyone who wishes to see a county official that “we are in a meeting,” with no clear indication of when it will end. Now that the MCAs are working to impeach him, I would like to urge them to move quickly in order to save our county. You cannot be assisted if you appear “unknown.” There is a particular lady there—I honestly wish lightning would strike her. She seems to be there only to enjoy county tea.”
