Story · Kenya's territorial war with Somalia officially begins — ambassador called back to Nairobi

CAPTION: Kenya's Ambassador to Somalia Lieutenant General Lucas Tumbo. It looks like Kenya's territorial war with Somalia is officially on after Saturday evening's official recall of Kenya's ambassador to the nation, Lieutenant General Lucas Tumbo.

This action comes after the Kenyan government accused Somalia of auctioning oil and gas blocks in it's territory to the United Kingdom.

In today's statement, the government made it clear that it was “ready to defend its territorial integrity at all costs”.

Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau said that “The Federal Government of Somalia has sadly demonstrated that it has not yet attained and embraced political maturity and diplomatic stance of a normal, well-adjusted and properly functioning modern government.”

Kamau said Somalia's auctioning of the oil and gas blocks in February 7, 2019 was a “tragic and regretful” act. He also accused Somalia and it's government of being ungrateful after Kenya's support during their recent political and humanitarian hardships.

Following this development, many Kenyans on social media felt that maybe it was Kenya's time to end its extended stay in Somalia and withdraw its forces from the country.

We can only sit and watch how this political and territorial war will end.
