Scare: Kenya Airways Plane Makes Emergency Landing At JKIA

A Kenya Airways flight that was headed to Mombasa from Nairobi on Friday has had to make an emergency landing.
Media reports indicate that the flight, a KQ604 had just taken off from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when it was hit by a bird strike.
According to the Kenya Airways website, the Embraer plane took off at 10:11am.
The bird strike is reported to have caused an engine glitch that forced the pilot to turn back to JKIA for repair.
The plane which was carrying an unknown number of passengers was expected to land at Moi International Airport (Mia), Mombasa at 10:56am.

However, in incidents with larger birds there can be extensive damage to the engine. Moreover, multiple bird strikes – or hitting large birds – can and have caused serious accidents.
