Makini Schools is one of the richest Kenyan schools.
In the first series Documenting Unemployment in Kenya (link below), Makini made the shortlist of the firms/businesses that are retrenching.
But why?
In a letter sent to select staff, Makini Human Resources Director Beth Waititu writes in part, '...we regret to inform you that your current position as a teacher will be rendered redundant upon expiry of 30 days from July 19th 2019'.
The letter states reorganization and realignment of jobs as the reason.
The language however shows that other reasons had been communicated in other forums.
