JD Vance Children: Learn About the Vice President’s Three Kids and Son on the Way
Vice President JD Vance may command headlines in Washington, but at home, he focuses on something far more personal. Together with his wife, Usha Vance, he is raising three young children and preparing to welcome a fourth. The Vances guard their family life carefully, yet they have offered glimpses into how they balance public power with private parenting. From school milestones to fishing trips and global travel, the story of JD Vance's children reveals a growing family navigating life at the center of American politics. Family anchors JD Vance amid political pressure, shaping his values, guiding his decisions, and reminding him daily that leadership begins at home with faith, responsibility, sacrifice, and steady presence. On Jan. 20, the couple announced on Instagram that they are expecting another son, due in late July 2026. Vance shared that Usha and the baby are doing well and that the family looks forward to welcoming him.
Usha now stands on track to become only the second known wife of a vice president to give birth while holding the title of second lady. The moment adds a historic footnote to a family already living through history.
Despite the attention, the Vances work hard to protect their children’s privacy. Vance has spoken openly about raising their kids in an interfaith home. He practices Christianity, while Usha grew up in the Hindu faith. After discussing their beliefs together, they decided to raise their children as Christians. Their two oldest children attend a Christian school, and Vance proudly shared that his eight-year-old celebrated his First Communion.
He has also admitted that life as the second family creates unusual challenges. In May 2025, he explained that he and Usha try to deliver as much normalcy as possible in what he called a very abnormal situation. That approach shapes how the JD Vance children experience life in Washington and beyond. Ewan Vance JD Vance and Usha welcomed their first child, Ewan, in June 2017. Now eight years old, Ewan has already witnessed milestones few children experience.
He joined his parents and siblings in January 2025 when Vance took the oath of office as vice president. Photos from the inauguration parade in Washington showed Ewan standing beside his father during a defining national moment.
Vance has described Ewan as aware of the changes around him. While adjusting to heightened security and public attention, Ewan understands that his father holds one of the highest offices in the country. That awareness, Vance suggested, makes the transition both exciting and challenging.
At home, however, Ewan remains a child who attends school, celebrates religious milestones and spends time with his siblings. His First Communion marked a proud family moment and reflected the Christian upbringing his parents chose. Vivek and Mirabel Vance Vivek, born in February 2020, arrived just weeks before the world shut down during the global pandemic. His early years unfolded largely outside public view.
In February 2024, while serving as an Ohio senator, Vance paused during Senate proceedings to mark Vivek’s fourth birthday. He admitted he could not attend his son’s birthday dinner that evening, yet he made sure to say publicly that he loved him very much. He even read the beloved children’s book Oh, The Places You’ll Go! aloud, blending public duty with fatherhood.
Vance has described Vivek as less aware of the political spotlight. To him, life as part of the second family feels adventurous. He reportedly enjoys interacting with Secret Service agents and traveling with his parents. A fishing trip in Michigan, shared on Instagram, showed father and son bonding outdoors far from Capitol Hill.
Mirabel, born in December 2021, became the couple’s first daughter. Vance announced her birth as an early Christmas bles…
